Justice for Sale: The Karsaz Road Accident and the Natasha Iqbal Case

 

In the high-profile Karsaz Road Accident case, Natasha Iqbal’s defense took a controversial turn when her lawyer claimed in court that she suffers from a severe mental illness. The defense attorney, Amir Mansoob Qureshi, argued that his client left home without informing her family, allegedly due to her unstable mental state. During the proceedings, Qureahi even requested that Natasha not be presented before the judge, citing her fragile condition. “My client is mentally ill, heavily dependent on medication, and left home without notifying anyone before getting behind the wheel,” he stated, conveniently emphasizing her struggle with mental illness over the past five years.

After Natasha Iqbal’s arrest, she was taken to Jinnah Hospital for a medico-legal examination, purportedly to determine whether she was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash. The charade continued when she was subsequently sent to the psychiatry ward for further evaluation—actions that appear designed to manipulate the narrative and garner sympathy for someone with clear connections.

Her lawyer presented a police report in court, which included a conveniently timed doctor’s note stating that the suspect was “confused and not in a good state of mind.” Qureahi added that Natasha had been under psychiatric treatment for five years, declaring that “patients like her are kept in isolation and often have no recollection of events.” Yet, an insider source with knowledge of the case accused the police and health officials of orchestrating a blatant “cover-up,” noting that despite a delay of more than 24 hours, the crucial blood and urine samples had not been submitted for analysis—an omission that reeks of corruption.

The reality of the incident is stark. CCTV footage, which went viral on social media, clearly shows a Toyota Land Cruiser, allegedly driven by Natasha Iqbal, ruthlessly slamming into a motorbike from behind. This reckless act led to the tragic deaths of a female student and her father, leaving five others seriously injured. Despite the damning evidence, it’s evident that money and influence are at work behind the scenes.

In an alarming move, an article detailing Natasha’s real-life roles has been suspiciously deleted from the Aaj English TV website. Other news outlets are also scrambling to erase their reports on the case after receiving their "cut," showcasing a disturbing trend of media suppression and control by the powerful.

“Until the day when the privileged and the common citizens are treated equally under the law, the concept of justice will remain a fantasy in Pakistan, and innocent people will continue to die in vain on our streets,” said Barrister Usman Cheema.

Social media influencer Rabi Pirzada echoed the sentiment on X, formerly Twitter, stating, “In the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, it’s only the poor who face the consequences. The rich buy their way out.”

In the latest twist, sources are saying that Natasha has already fled to Dubai with her family, closing this gruesome chapter by paying 20 million PKR to each of the deceased’s families and 5 million PKR to each of the injured victims. The message is clear: in Pakistan, justice isn’t blind—it’s just for sale to the highest bidder. The tragic deaths and suffering of the victims were conveniently silenced by a fat paycheck, underscoring the harsh reality that justice in this country is a commodity, accessible only to those who can afford it.

The truth is that the family of Imran Arif has forgiven Natasha for the incident without accepting any blood money. An NOC was issued to Natasha out of goodwill (FeSabeelillah). However, opposition parties have begun exploiting this case for their own benefit, attempting to escalate the matter to tarnish the reputation of the Gul Ahmed group. They have pressured the victim's family to continue pursuing the case against Natasha and the Gul Ahmed group, despite the fact that the matter had already been amicably resolved between Imran Arif’s family and Natasha’s family, with a formal written apology from Natasha’s side. Unfortunately, Imran Arif’s brother, Imtiaz Arif, has faced significant disruption in his daily life and has also suffered financial demotion in his job with the Lakhani Group due to this incident.
